Recurring Symbols

Recurring symbols:
Weather-  When the weather is stormy and the seas are stirred, it symbolizes that there is an upset in the balance of the earth.  What this means is that there is something seriously wrong happening, and the heavens are most likely angry with the earth.  An example of bad weather in Othello is at the beginning of Act 2.  The “high-wrought flood”(A2, S1, L2) symbolizes an upset, and sets the bad mood for the audience.
Dishonesty- Iago is quite dishonest throughout the play, and this is a primary way to express his evil thoughts and mindset.  When “Honest Iago” isn’t honest at all, not only does It add irony as another recurring symbol, but it expresses Iago’s evil ways by showing his mischievous mindset.
